CMCC Rugby Team becomes the runners up of plate championship under Development club category at the Western Province Rugby Union 7’s tournament which took place today 23rd of September, 2018 at Police Park. The team lost to Old Wesleyites’ Sports Club in the finals (12 – 29).

A total of 19 teams took part in the tournament this year and contested under the groups Division clubs and Development Clubs. The CMCC Rugby team played their matches under the group Development Clubs. in its 145 years of history, this is the first time a team from CMCC took part in the Western Province Rugby Union 7’s tournament. The team was coached by the former Kandy SC and Sri Lanka Scrum Half Amjad Buksh. He also makes history as the first Rugby coach of Colombo Malay Cricket Club.
